Feedback from participants
Maybe the institute have to do some selection from the application (apply form). Or can state out clearly the needed of working experience.
You are so great. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for providing this opportunity to the Asia Librarians.
More time to collaborate with other participants.
To have more time to work on the cases, because new ideas come out as we discuss things.
Person from the mainland of China should practice more not only in group discussion but also in case study presentation.
Love the opportunity of exchanging ideas on library management, hope to know more with innovation ideas.
Thank you for helping us realize our value as librarians.
No. Thank you very much!
Would like to thank you for all the hard work. One thing to suggest: have a formal session to share real life challenges and experiences of each participants.
Well done to organizer and participants. Nice venue, complete preparation, quality contents, knowledgeable speakers and facilitators and etc. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the great classes! I can bring some new knowledge and thoughts back.
Introduce some management analysis method or tools in the next Institute, so the group in the case study will not use SWOT.
Could be more technology advanced, e.g. make use of online learning platform like Moodle to facilitate the discussion in class.
More time for group discussions. Scenario planning may be new to a number of participants. It would have been better if we had a couple more activities to apply scenario planning so that we try and not stick to SWOT analysis.
The PPT marked by Chinese and English two language.
Will recommend to send participant for the next workshop. Thank you very much! Great job.
My sincere thanks, it is a very working enterprise to encourage professional development in East Asian Libraries.
Excellence!
Work book too heavy. Double sided printing next time. Separate folder. Facilitators can give more examples of case studies (real library case studies) before asking participants to discuss among themselves.
I hope it’s the training that covers many participants from many nations but there are only 4-5 nationality and most of them are Chinese. Is it possible to limit the language or confirm that every participant should talk English.
Group work, having discussion then we can realize the differentiate with each other and communication from that.
The case study gives us a chance to deal with a real situation. Teamwork – good experience working with people from different nations.
Group discussion. I have learnt a lot from the discussion as all of us are from different countries. This session enable us to know other libraries’ practice in Asia.
Trends presented; discussion inspiring.
The case preparation worked well. Working with different cultures and perspective really help stimulate deeper thinking/analysis.
Gave group talk (brainstorm) and presentation.
Speeches followed by discussions and idea sharing.

Everything was okay. However, food for muslims were not well managed.
Good speakers, good facilitators, organizers and secretariats.
It’s fun and informative.
Duration is a bit short as we don’t have enough time for the case study.
Always on time.
Quite confusing about the schedule, never state clearly where we have our meal that’s why I missed the welcome dinner.
Well organized and well balanced activities and presentations.
Time is rushed a little bit. However, every event and activity is wonderful.
Teaching, discussion, analysis, case study. All of the ways of study are interesting.
Most of the exercises are practical enough to apply in our current situation.
Need more data analyze.
New/cutting edge technologies and methodologies were shared among us.

I pretty enjoy attending Marshall’s classes. He gave me a lot of new ideas and innovative knowledge.
Group discussion is the most successful respect for us because we can learn from each other, we can think lots of new topics.
The whole arrangement is very specific and overall the content of course is very plentiful especially the training exercise.
Case study. Each member contribute their ideas/experiences/efforts.
Case study: make me think about something I haven’t noticed. It didn’t occur to me that people from different places and cultures could become a team so quickly and work efficiently.
Marshall Breeding’s presentation, I could really relate well since we are in the process of selecting a Discovery Tool for our University; IR and ERM concepts.
Case study, included class contents and give the reports.
The experts, topics, location, mode is good.
No need to travel for classes.
Entertain for dinner. Hospitality, take care to the participants.
Theory class, and just simply “read” from the projector, very boring.
Speeches are delivered at high speed because of limited time.
The language barrier.
Some content. More about technology.
Group lunch and dinner. As Muslim, we need to consume halal foods that we get outside from the hotel/dinner venue.
No. Everything is useful.
The way that discussions are held. Often we don't have enough time in completing the tasks.
Need a bit more time for group case study, as with cultural/language difference slow things down a bit.
Because my English is poor, I only read something, so I feel difficult to listening and saying sometimes.
Presentation – my weakness on English speaking.
Session exercise. Limitation of time (why).
I think there should only be 1 presentation in the am and 1 in the afternoon to allow more time for discussion and group workshop. Focus on group dynamics.
Distance-training. I don’t like this way because the screen not clear.
Not enough time to go through all the slides.
My English is no good. So I don’t know all these learning.
Well, maybe because of the differentiate of working experience and education background, I found the big impact to me.
Marshall Breeding. Thanks for sharing.

This institute gave me an opportunity to review the challenges for the libraries.
A very good forum to introduce me to other professionals in other locals, who are engaging in similar projects and skills.
To learn a lot to do a good leader of library, such as, to develop a plan, budgets etc.
I met many professionals from different countries. I learned several strengths from them, and reflected from some of their weaknesses.
Discussion with other people widen my insight.
There are lessons on technology, service, resource, library development. All of them are very organized. It is very useful for my work in the future.
The technology changes our life and work and “no ability of planning, no success”, we should adapt the trend to future.
Willing to share. Cooperating with our group.
The last time I attend the Institute, I learned about The Learning Commons from Rick Luce. Immediately, I proposed to the Dean and approved 5 million to support the project. Now, it is considered the 1st library commons in the Philippines and thousands of libraries have visited the TLC and have inspired them to build or adapt a TLC in their library. The Institute was the prime mover of this project. Had I not attended, we wouldn’t have the Learning Commons now. Much appreciated. Now, and again, I leaned something now. I’ll make sure that this learning will translate to concrete innovations in my library.
There is some inspiration to my work, some ideas are the future direction of my work.
Enhance my knowledge and cooperation.
I think I will study English hard, this experience will be improve my ability to work.
